Job opportunity: Advocacy Worker We are an award-winning charity serving hundreds of people in our community who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Alongside our work reducing the harm done by homelessness, we provide a range of legal advice and support to help prevent homelessness before it starts. And the need for these services is growing. We are looking for a person with legal experience who will work as part of a team to help us defend the rights of people who are homeless or facing homelessness. In 2019 we ran a pilot legal advice drop-in clinic in Chesham which has been so successful have extended the project into 2020. Drawing on our experience from running a similar clinic in Wycombe, we provide access to a solicitor and a housing expert as well as our Advocacy Lead. And we work with the teams from the Hillingdon Law Centre and the Wycombe Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme to address all sorts of issues with our clients that contribute to a high risk of homelessness. The legal drop-in is just one part of our advocacy work. As part of a team the Advocacy Worker will help: reduce the number of people evicted from their homes, help homeless people find and keep a home, defend the rights of those who are homeless or at risk of eviction. Due to the nature of the role there is an Occupational Requirement in line with the Equality Act 2010 for the post holder to be a Christian.
