WHC is looking for someone with IT skills who can help us select and migrate to a new Volunteer Management application.

What will you be doing?

Working with the Volunteering Manager and internal stakeholders, and having regard to the specification we have prepared, you will:

  • document the use model for a volunteer management system to replace our current home-grown system
  • choose a suitable off-the-shelf cloud-based application
  • migrate the existing volunteer data into it
  • document processes
  • set up and commission the system

About the project

We expect the work could be done mainly at home with some office meetings.

This is a one-off project with a deadline for completion of 1/9/20.

We estimate it will take about 60 working days – to be worked flexibly. For example: working 3 days per week, and allowing for a 2-month mid-way hiatus for pilot deployment would yield a total elapsed time of 7 months.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in business analysis and application migration
  • Experience in volunteer management would be a bonus
  • Ability to write good documentation is essential

What difference will you make?

WHC harnesses up to 500 volunteers for around 600 shifts per year, organised by multiple shift planners. Matching shifts to volunteer availability is a complex task currently undertaken by an ageing home-grown web-based system. As this is a mission-critical function, we want to migrate to a commercial product to improve supportability and sustainability.

What's in it for you?

  • The chance to work on a task which is critical to our mission of helping people faced with homelessness
  • The chance to add to your CV
  • The chance to consider other volunteering opportunities with WHC
  • Reimbursement of reasonable out of pocket expenses
