Wycombe Homeless Connection:

  • Is a small registered charity working in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
  • Tackles homelessness through prevention as well as alleviation
  • Assists non-statutory homeless people who do not qualify for housing help from the council
  • Provides emergency assistance, but is focused on helping people achieve long-term stability
  • Provides person-centred advice, support, advocacy, resettlement, tenancy support and employment transition support
  • Runs a winter night shelter
  • Has eight employees (6.4 FTE)
  • Assists over 500 people per year
  • Is highly collaborative with the local authority and other agencies
  • Implements the level 1 standards of the NCVO's Trusted Charity scheme (formerly PQASSO)
  • Was recognised with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2014
  • Harnesses significant community support
  • Has 400 active trained volunteers carrying out a wide variety of roles
  • Is more than 90% funded from voluntary sources, which are short-term but highly diverse
  • Owns no property so has no burden of financial overhead
  • Is a community project of Wycombe churches and operates as a Christian charity, but does not seek to promote religion
  • Aims to serve and respect anyone who comes to us for help, and welcomes anyone to volunteer with us who is in sympathy with our ethos
  • Is a charity first registered in 2009, then converted to CIO in 2014
